US Cranberries Celebrates Chef Vikas Khanna as Global Ambassador
Chef Vikas Khanna showcases innovative cranberry recipes at Mumbai event, highlighting health benefits including potential H. pylori reduction, as US Cranberries strengthens its India presence.
Mumbai witnessed a vibrant celebration of flavour, health, and culinary innovation on February 24, 2026, as The Cranberry Institute's India office hosted an exclusive media and trade gathering to mark the appointment of renowned Chef Vikas Khanna as Global Brand Ambassador for US Cranberries.
The event drew a distinguished audience from the culinary world, including prominent chefs, importers, retailers, nutrition specialists, and journalists. Held in the heart of India's bustling financial capital, the afternoon served as both a launchpad for the new partnership and a platform to explore the many ways this American superfruit can enrich everyday Indian eating habits.
At the centre of the programme stood Chef Vikas Khanna, whose live culinary demonstration captivated attendees. He skillfully blended US Cranberries into dishes that bridged international techniques with familiar Indian flavours, proving the fruit's remarkable versatility. From adding a tangy pop to festive spreads to seamlessly integrating into routine meals, Khanna illustrated how cranberries deliver not only bright colour and bold taste but also meaningful nutritional value.
In his address to the gathering, Chef Khanna shared a personal reflection on the role of food in life. “Food, for me, is about balance, nourishing the body while celebrating culture and joy,” he said. “Cranberries carry that duality beautifully—they are rich in health benefits yet equally vibrant in taste and colour. I am honoured to partner with The Cranberry Institute to share their story across borders and inspire people to bring them to their tables in new and meaningful ways.”
The event also spotlighted emerging research on cranberries' potential role in digestive health, particularly relevant to India where Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection remains widespread. Dr. Jignesh Gandhi, Professor of Surgery and a Robotic & Gastrointestinal Surgeon at Gleneagles and Fortis Hospitals in Mumbai, provided expert insight into the issue.

“H. pylori bacterial infection is a major health concern in India, affecting nearly 60% of our population and contributing to conditions ranging from chronic acidity to stomach cancer,” Dr. Gandhi explained. He referenced clinical findings showing that consuming cranberry juice twice daily for eight weeks can lead to a 20% reduction in H. pylori infection rates. “Such results indicate a promising, natural, and complementary strategy to manage this persistent infection alongside conventional medical treatments.”
He emphasized the broader implications: “If this approach is adopted widely in India, it could significantly improve patient compliance, reduce antibiotic resistance, and positively impact our overall health economy.”
Mr. Sumit Saran, India Representative for The Cranberry Institute, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. “We are very delighted and honoured to be associated with renowned culinary maestro, Chef Vikas Khanna,” he said. “His extraordinary talent and passion for food have not only elevated Indian cuisine on the global stage but have also inspired countless food enthusiasts. His ability to connect health, heritage, and gastronomy makes him the ideal ambassador for the fruit.”
Saran also highlighted accessibility, noting that US Cranberries are now readily available at dry fruit stores and leading e-commerce platforms across the country, making it easier for home cooks and professionals alike to experiment with the ingredient.
Guests enjoyed curated tastings that demonstrated the fruit's adaptability in both sweet and savoury preparations, sparking lively discussions and recipe ideas. The interactive format allowed attendees to experience firsthand how cranberries can elevate dishes while contributing to wellness.
The Cranberry Institute, a not-for-profit organization established in 1951, supports cranberry growers and the industry through research, education, and promotion focused on health, agriculture, and environmental stewardship. Funded voluntarily by members who handle, process, and sell cranberries, the Institute represents growers in regulatory and scientific efforts.
This Mumbai event underscores a growing recognition of US Cranberries in India—not just as an imported delicacy but as a practical, health-supporting ingredient that fits naturally into diverse culinary traditions. As Chef Khanna's ambassadorship unfolds, it promises to bring fresh inspiration to kitchens nationwide, blending global nutrition insights with local flavours.
