Actress Alia Bhatt used a line borrowed from comedian Samay Raina to respond to an audience member during a promotional event for her upcoming film "Alpha" at JECRC University in Rajasthan, in a video shared by the university.

The interaction occurred during a student Q&A session as part of the film's promotional campaign. It closely echoed an earlier moment from the current season of "India's Got Latent," a web series on which Bhatt appeared as a guest panelist.

What happened at the event

According to the video shared by JECRC University, an audience member asked Bhatt how she agreed to appear on an unfiltered show like "India's Got Latent." Before she could respond, another attendee called out, "Paisa (money)."
Bhatt laughed and replied, "Kisne bola ye, kisi gareeb aadmi ne (Who said this, probably some broke person)," prompting cheers from the crowd, per the video.
The exchange drew reactions online, including from the official "India's Got Latent" account, which commented "Too good!" Samay Raina also responded with a one-word comment, "Killl." Some social media users questioned whether the moment was staged, with one comment reading, "I know it's scripted but I can't prove it."

The original moment on India's Got Latent

The line traces back to the season opener of "India's Got Latent" season two, where Bhatt appeared alongside her "Alpha" co-star Sharvari as a panel guest. During the episode, Raina asked a contestant what qualities women look for in men, and an audience member shouted "Paisa." Bhatt reportedly asked who had made the comment, and Raina responded with the same line she later repeated at the university event. Raina drew praise at the time for how he addressed the remark on air.
About 'Alpha'

Bhatt is currently promoting "Alpha," a spy thriller directed by Shiv Rawail that also stars Sharvari, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor, with a cameo appearance by Hrithik Roshan. The film is produced by Yash Raj Films and is positioned as the studio's first female-led entry in its Spy Universe franchise, which includes "Pathaan" and the "Tiger" and "War" film series.
"Alpha" is scheduled to release in theaters this Friday.

What's next

Further promotional appearances for "Alpha" are expected in the days leading up to its release. Neither Bhatt nor Yash Raj Films had issued an official statement addressing the university event beyond the video shared by JECRC University as of publication.
