The Rajasthan High Court immediately stopped the ad hoc committee of the RCA. The court appointed Bhaskar A. Sawant, an experienced administrator, as the RCA administrator with the responsibility to manage the association.

This decision has been taken by a division bench headed by the Acting Chief Justice M.M. Shrivastava in a public interest litigation filed by Rajiv Pratap Singh. In the hearing of the case, the Rajasthan High Court has asked the Registrar of Cooperatives regarding the reason why contempt proceedings could not be initiated against him for not following the court orders.

The public interest litigation was filed by Rajiv Pratap Singh. According to the petition, the ad hoc committee of  Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) formed on June 29, 2024, was a temporary one. In the court order, it was mentioned that the ad hoc committee would organize the RCA election within three months; however, the elections were not organized even after the deadline.

The petitioner informed the court that instead of holding elections, the ad hoc committee's term was repeatedly extended. This affected the RCA's democratic process and prevented the formation of an elected executive committee. The petition stated this was contrary to the court's previous orders and the spirit of the administrative system.

During the hearing of the case, the High Court also raised serious questions about the role of the Cooperative Registrar. The court summoned the Registrar, asking why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him for not holding elections within the stipulated timeframe and continuing the ad hoc system. This observation is being considered a strong message to the administrative level.

The High Court, under the interim arrangement, appointed former IAS officer Bhaskar A. Sawant has been appointed as the RCA's administrator. The court has expressed its expectation that he will conduct the association's administrative work in accordance with the rules and ensure that the process is followed and that he will take the necessary steps to conduct regular elections.

For a long time, there has been controversy in the Rajasthan cricket administration regarding the tenure of the ad hoc committee and the delay in elections. Following this High Court decision, hopes have increased for a transparent administration and regular election process within the RCA. The sports world is also considering this decision as an important step towards accountability, transparency, and good governance in the Rajasthan cricket administration.
