Xiaomi 17 Max was launched in China on Thursday as the fifth smartphone under the Xiaomi 17 range of smartphones. This smartphone was unveiled during the Xiaomi event that took place in May 2026, during which Xiaomi 17 YU7 GT Electric Car, Xiaomi Band 10 Pro, and Xiaomi Ear Clip TWS were unveiled as well. Xiaomi 17 Max has been powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 8 series chipset that powers the entire range of smartphones. There is a Leica-tuned trio of rear cameras with the primary one having a pixel rating of 200 million pixels.
The Xiaomi 17 Max is priced starting at CNY 4,799 (approximately Rs. 68,000) for the base variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The higher-end 16GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB RAM and storage configurations are priced at CNY 5,099 (approximately Rs. 72,000) and CNY 5,399 (approximately Rs. 76,000), respectively. The top-of-the-line model, which features 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, is priced at CNY 5,799 (approximately Rs. 82,000).
The Xiaomi 17 Max is currently available for pre-order in China and will go on sale in the country on May 25th via the Xiaomi online store. The Xiaomi 17 Max is available in Pixel Black, Sky Blue, and White color options.
The Xiaomi 17 Max is a dual-SIM handset and runs on Xiaomi's Android 16-based HyperOS 3. The phone sports a 6.9-inch 1.5K (1,200×2,608 pixels) AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits, HDR10+, HDR Vivid, Dolby Vision and Dragon Crystal 3.0 protection. The company claims the handset comes with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Powering the Xiaomi 17 Max is an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, built on a 3nm process and delivering a peak clock speed of 4.6GHz. The phone also features an Adreno GPU, Qualcomm AI Engine, up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 onboard storage. For security, the Xiaomi 17 Max also features a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
In terms of camera, the Xiaomi 17 Max features a Leica-tuned triple rear camera setup, consisting of a 200-megapixel (f/1.65) primary shooter with a Samsung HP9 sensor, 23mm focal length, and optical image stabilization (OIS). The phone also features a 50-megapixel (f/2.4) periscope telephoto camera that offers up to 3x optical zoom. There's also a 50-megapixel (f/2.4) ultrawide camera with a 102-degree field of view. On the front, the Xiaomi 17 Max features a 32-megapixel (f/2.2) selfie camera. It can record video in quality up to 4K/30 fps.
The Xiaomi 17 Max is powered by an 8,000mAh battery that supports 100W wired fast charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, a USB Type-C port, GPS, GLONASS, QZSS, and NavIC. Sensors include a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, IR blaster, color temperature sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, e-compass, and barometer. Its dimensions are 162.9×77.6×8.2mm and it weighs approximately 225g.
