Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma of Rajasthan will attend an important meeting on Tuesday at New Delhi. Other officials attending the meeting are the Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The main aim of the meeting is to finalize the draft Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the Yamuna water project.
Technical as well as administrative aspects of the project will be discussed in detail at the meeting, and efforts will be made to agree upon the draft MoA. The Central government, along with Rajasthan and Haryana Governments, is taking measures to expedite the project.
Yamuna water project is extremely significant for Shekhawati area of Rajasthan. On completion of the project, drinking water will be provided to several people of the area and will ensure water for irrigation. It will improve agricultural activities in the area and thereby its economy.
It is noteworthy that a joint Detailed Project Report (DPR) for laying the pipeline under the Yamuna water agreement has already been prepared and submitted to the Central Water Commission. The finalization of the MoA is expected to accelerate the project's implementation.
Senior officials from the Central Government, the Rajasthan Water Resources Department, and the Haryana Government will also attend the meeting. This meeting is viewed as a significant step towards advancing the project.
