After undergoing C-section at the district hospital of Pawta, which is in the city of Jodhpur, eight women have suffered from some health complications. Similar incidents have happened previously in Kota and Bikaner, and have created alarm for the Health Department. It came as a shock to the health authorities that eight women were suffering from poor health soon after their surgery.
Eight women underwent C-section on Saturday at the district hospital of Pawta. After surgery, several women have suffered from health complications and are being treated by the doctors now. They complained of weakness and low blood pressure among others.
Considering the alarming situation, the operating theater at the hospital has been closed while an investigation is underway. Simultaneously, an investigation into potential infection or other technical causes has been launched.
Dr. B.S. Jodha, Principal of SN Medical College, stated that two of the eight affected women were referred to Mathuradas Mathur (MDM) Hospital due to their critical condition. The remaining six women are undergoing treatment at Pawta District Hospital, and their condition is currently reported to be stable. He explained that among the critical patients, one woman suffered from excessive bleeding, while the other-who had pre-existing diabetes-experienced a significant drop in blood pressure. Both are receiving treatment under the supervision of specialist doctors.
Following the incident, the Health Department has ordered a probe into the entire matter. Samples from the operation theatre and the medical supplies used during the surgeries have been collected and sent for testing. Officials stated that all aspects-including infection, the quality of medicines, and other technical factors-are being investigated. Currently, the health condition of all the affected women is being closely monitored. The actual reason behind the deterioration in the health of the women who had recently given birth will become clear only after the test reports are received.
