Ahmedabad celebrates Foundation Day with grand Nagar Yatra of Maa Bhadrakali

The grand yatra traversed through prominent city landmarks, including Teen Darwaza, Manek Nath Temple, AMC Office, Jagannath Temple, Mahalaxmi Temple, Ganesh Temple, Lal Darwaza, Electricity House, and Bahucharaji Temple, before culminating at Bhadrakali Temple at 12:30 pm. The event concluded with Mataji’s Bhandara, a feast that welcomed all devotees, promoting a spirit of unity and celebration.

Shashikant Tiwari, Founder of Dharmaraksha Foundation, said, “The Nagar Yatra of Maa Bhadrakali on Ahmedabad’s Foundation Day was a momentous occasion, bringing together the city’s residents in a shared expression of faith and heritage. It was heartening to witness such a large gathering taking part in the yatra and experiencing the divine blessings of Maa Bhadrakali. The success of the Nagar Yatra reflects the enduring spiritual connection of Ahmedabad with the Goddess.”

Ahmedabad’s Mayor Pratibha Jain lauded the organisers for reviving this grand tradition, saying, “The Nagar Yatra of Goddess Bhadrakali being organised after 614 years is a historic milestone. That it coincided with Maha Shivratri and Ahmedabad’s foundation day made the occasion even more auspicious. The overwhelming response from devotees highlighted the city’s rich cultural and religious fabric.”

With over 5,000 participants, the Nagar Yatra not only reinstated an age-old tradition but also showcased Ahmedabad’s commitment to preserving its spiritual and cultural heritage.
