Natarajan Chandrasekaran, chairman of the country's largest IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), said that working from home is not a solution to avoid cases of sexual harassment. Instead, people need to be educated in this matter.
During the 2023–24 fiscal year, 110 TCS employees filed complaints of sexual harassment, compared to 49 the previous year.
But according to the IT behemoth's annual report, the numbers for 2023–24 come from employees worldwide, whereas the numbers for 2022–2023 are specific to operations in India.
A total of 6,01,546 individuals from 152 countries work at TCS, with 35.6% of them being women. At the company's annual general meeting on Friday, Chandrasekaran responded to a question from a shareholder by saying that a company like TCS can experience such a high number of cases. He went on to say that education, not working from home, is the better course of action in these kinds of situations.
