Those experiencing very high temperatures and heat wave in the state of Rajasthan are expected to be relieved in the coming days. The Meteorological Department had issued a forecast that 30 districts would witness thunderstorms, rainfall, and hail till June 1 due to the approach of western disturbances that are expected to bring changes in weather regularly till then.
Over the past 24 hours, northeastern parts of Rajasthan have seen thunderstorms, rainfall, and hail, resulting in a significant drop in temperature. With cloud cover and strong winds in cities like Jaipur, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli, Churu, Hanumangarh, and Bikaner, people are getting relief from hot weather conditions.
The highest rainfall was recorded in Malsisar in Jhunjhunu district, where about 43 mm of rain fell. Several areas, including Kotputli, Neemrana, Pilani, Khetri, Chirawa, Patan, and Bansur, also received good rainfall.
According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds with speeds of up to 60 to 70 kilometers per hour are expected in most parts of the state on Saturday and Sunday. Thunderstorms and rain are expected in several districts, and hailstorms are expected in some areas.
However, the heat wave will continue to linger in some parts of western Rajasthan. On Friday, Jaisalmer was the hottest city in the state, with a maximum temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius. Barmer, Bikaner, Sriganganagar, and Churu also recorded temperatures above 43 degrees Celsius.
Weather experts say that due to the thunderstorms and rain, the maximum temperature may drop by 2 to 5 degrees Celsius over the next two to three days. This will ease the heatwave and provide relief to the people.
However, the Meteorological Department has also expressed concern about the monsoon. Revised forecasts indicate that this year's monsoon may be weaker than normal. Rainfall activity in June, July, and August is likely to be affected due to the influence of El Niño.
