There has been one very serious case of honeytrap and extortion discovered at Jaipur’s Mahesh Nagar. According to reports, a businessman was extorted using AI technology by around ₹90 lakh. In the wake of this case, the police managed to arrest the lead accused in Jodhpur, and they are now interrogating her.

According to details revealed in the course of investigations, the accused woman planned to hijack the AI project of the businessman worth crores. For that purpose, they employed AI software and deep fake technologies in order to create photos and videos depicting him in an improper manner. They subsequently threatened to circulate these images on social media and email, exerting constant pressure on the businessman.

In his complaint to the police, the victim businessman stated that the accused gang had been mentally harassing him for a long time. Fearing defamation and threats to his family, he continued to pay them. The accused had already collected approximately 90 lakh rupees. Even then, the gang demanded an additional 50 lakh rupees. They threatened to implicate him in a false rape case and harm his family if he did not pay.

According to the police, a single individual was acting as the mastermind behind this entire network, orchestrating the entire conspiracy. Acting on technical evidence, the Mahesh Nagar police station and the team of DCP South arrested the main accused woman from Jodhpur. Police are currently searching for other individuals involved in the gang.

Police officials believe that many other victims have not yet come forward due to fear of defamation. The investigation into the case is ongoing and the police are also looking into the aspects of misuse of deepfake technology.
