The price of petrol and diesel has been increased in Rajasthan. This marks the second rise in fuel price in the last four days, which has alarmed not only the public but the transport industry as well. Prices have been hiked starting from Tuesday in several cities of Rajasthan, including the state capital Jaipur.
As per the recent hike, the price of petrol in Jaipur has been increased to ₹108.94 per liter. Similarly, the price of diesel has been raised to ₹94.17 per liter.
Previously, on 15th May, there was a large increase in prices. Petrol saw an increase of ₹3.25 per liter, while diesel witnessed an increase of ₹3.02 per liter. Consequently, in the last four days, petrol has become more expensive by Rs 4.19 per liter and diesel by Rs 3.91 per liter.
The continuously rising prices have placed an additional financial burden on drivers, taxi operators, and transport businesses. Experts say that fuel prices will increase transportation costs, which could impact the prices of everyday commodities.
According to experts, the rising transportation costs of fruits, vegetables, milk, groceries, and other essential consumer goods could further impact the impact of inflation on the pockets of ordinary people. Concern and anger are being expressed among the public regarding the continuously rising fuel prices.
Consumption increased due to panicking - The situation is such that along with the increase in petrol and diesel prices, panicking is also spreading among the people. Due to this, oil consumption in Jaipur has increased by 25 percent for petrol and 36 percent for diesel from May 1 to May 14.
Rajasthan is experiencing a severe heatwave these days. Consequently, people increasingly use four-wheeled vehicles to commute. Public transport in Jaipur is in dire straits, forcing ordinary people to use their personal vehicles to commute to work. Meanwhile, rising petrol and diesel consumption has already impacted the state's transport sector. Therefore, this increase is now expected to impact many businesses.
