Nissan India will introduce its new offering in the SUV category, the Tekton, on July 9, 2026. This is Nissan's re-entry into the mid-sized SUV category, which remained vacant after the discontinuation of Kicks in 2023. Here are some of the expected specifications and engines in the Tekton.
The Tekton comes with a 1.0-liter gasoline engine producing 100 hp with 166 Nm of torque. The other option is 1.3-liter direct injection turbocharged petrol engine that produces 163 hp and 280 Nm of torque. Both engines feature a standard 6-speed manual transmission. The latter engine can also have an optional 6-speed DCT automatic.
Whether the Tekton comes with the strong-hybrid powertrain offered by the Dacia Duster, which is a 1.8-liter petrol engine producing 160 hp with 172 Nm of torque along with e-CVT gearbox remains a question.
While the Tekton interior design is expected to differ from that of the Duster, the list of features is expected to remain the same. Features like 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster are expected to make it to the Tekton as well.
It also offers a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, and 6-way adjustable ventilated front seats. The Nissan Tekton is expected to have a starting price of ₹11 lakh, with the top-end variant likely costing up to ₹18 lakh. It will compete against vehicles such as the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Grand Vitara, and Victoris.
