There is a possibility of heavy, sometimes very heavy, rains in some parts of Rajasthan over the next two days. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rain in Baran and Jhalawar on Tuesday, while a heavy rain alert has been issued for Bundi, Chittorgarh, Karauli, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, and Sri Ganganagar.
For the past two days, torrential rains have persisted in many districts, and similar rainfall is expected for the next 24 to 48 hours. So far, 18 people have died in rain-related accidents across the state.
The bodies of two of the six individuals who were swept away in the Chambal River in Kota were recovered on Tuesday. In separate incidents, four people died each in Kota and Chittorgarh, three in Pratapgarh, and two in Churu. One person each lost their life in Rajsamand, Bharatpur, Alwar, Pali, and Dholpur. Due to heavy rains in Kota and Pali, schools were closed.
The body of Antesh Gurjar (19), who went missing after being swept away from the Bamni culvert in Nidhara village in Bari area of Dholpur on Monday, was recovered by the SDRF team near Revai village around 6:30 pm on Tuesday. The body was found approximately four kilometers from the culvert. The rescue operations by the team lasted about 30 hours.
Heavy rains have also caused significant water inflow into the state's reservoirs. According to the Water Resources Department, 106 dams have been fully filled, and 407 dams are receiving partial inflow. Water from the Triveni River continues to flow into the Bisalpur Dam. Currently, the Triveni River is flowing at about 3.5 meters.
In Jaipur, the capital, it rained intermittently throughout Tuesday. Heavy rainfall has continued since Wednesday morning. Over 60 mm of rain was recorded in Jaipur in the last 24 hours. Due to this intermittent rain, waterlogging and traffic jams have occurred in many areas.
