June 1: Vegas, Delhi’s most fashionable go-to place, is known for its passionate community-building events & efforts. This weekend, Delhi witnessed another great initiative by Vegas that touched hundreds of hearts and sent out a message of strength & hope.
On 29 May, last Sunday, the mall organised a very successful ‘Potpourri Challenge’ Half Marathon which saw more than 1200 people take part. This noble initiative was aimed at raising cancer awareness among Delhiites. The organisers spread the word about this widespread disease and educated the public about proactive measures for preventing it. Also shared were suggestions to help patients affected by the illness.
With more than 13 lakh Indians diagnosed with cancer in 2020 (Source: National Cancer Registry Programme Report) and the number expected to rise to 15 lakh by 2025, events such as this one are the need of the hour.
Speaking at the event, Ravinder Choudhary, AVP, Vegas Mall said, “At Vegas, we strongly believe in the spirit of working towards a cause. This is reflected in all our major events across the year. Considering that we all know a family member, a friend, or a co-worker with cancer, we knew that it was time we all came together for them.” Also presiding over the Half Marathon, Coach Ravinder, the renowned Sports Event Consultant & Organiser said, “Delhi never disappoints. It is overwhelming to witness so many people of all ages coming to give cancer warriors hope & telling them that they are not alone in their battle.”
