Morari Bapu Begins ‘Manas Margi’ Katha In US, Weaves Spiritual Values of Sanatan Dharma with Self Instrospection

The nine-day discourse will revolve around the in-depth interpretation and significance of these two verses.

Explaining further, Bapu said that within the Ramayana, there are many spiritual seekers—margis—each following a distinct path. These include sages like Vashishtha, Vishwamitra, divine figures such as Lord Shiva, Narada, Lord Ram, devotees like Shabari, Sugreev, Bhushundi, and even Ravana, each representing a different kind of margi.

It is noteworthy that Morari Bapu himself is a margi sadhu belonging to Nagar Brahmin ancestry. He reflected that while there was a time when people did not recognize the value of a margi sadhu, times have now changed—so much so that families have even begun naming their daughters Margi.

Bapu also noted that the Manglacharan (invocatory verses) of the Ramayan holds a power comparable to the Savitri Mantra in Hindu tradition. He emphasized that the portion of the Manglacharan devoted to the praise of a true guru is especially potent and beneficial for recitation. While Goswami Tulsidas followed the tradition of Panch Devta Stuti established by Adi Shankaracharya—which was intended to bridge Vaishnav and Shaiva traditions—Bapu pointed out that when Tulsidas begins with Guru Vandana, the focus is solely on the Guru, to the exclusion of all else.

Even within that context, Bapu said, it is the lotus feet of the Guru that act as the spiritual magnet.

While Bapu has long preached Satya, Prem, and Karuna—truth, love, and compassion—as guiding principles, he shared for the first time that this trinity also represents his personal Savitri Mantra. While the Savitri Mantra is widely regarded as one of the most powerful in Hinduism, Bapu revealed a deeply personal association: his mother’s name was also Savitri.

The Katha will be held daily from 10:00 AM to approximately 1:00–1:30 PM, concluding on July 6, 2025. The event is taking place at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock.

Each day’s discourse will be followed by a vegetarian meal, served as prasad to all attendees.
