It has been known that users of WhatsApp have always desired the function of signing out without deleting any conversations. There seems to be hope that this desire will soon be fulfilled because WhatsApp's logout function has reportedly been tested.

According to WABetaInfo, the logout function is seen on WhatsApp Beta for Android, version 2.26.21.9. At present, only some beta testers can enjoy the logout function, but the rest of users might see it in a few months. This feature could allow them to temporarily stop using WhatsApp without deleting the app and their conversation records.

As things stand, such an option does not yet exist, even though it is on its way soon. At present, when a WhatsApp user temporarily deletes and re-installs the app, the person needs to go through many steps before confirming the phone number again and recovering chat backup. This is why many users have been demanding this feature for a long time.

According to a new report, the logout feature will be available to users in the account section of WhatsApp's settings. Once the user selects this option, they will be shown a confirmation screen. After confirmation, the account will be temporarily disconnected from the device, but chats, settings, and other data will remain on the device. When the user wants to log back in, they won't have to go through the lengthy setup process again.

Today, messages, group notifications, and phone calls happen non-stop, which can be overwhelming for several individuals. The logout function may assist people who decide to take part in the digital detox program. This way, they will have some time away from WhatsApp, after which all their conversations and settings will remain intact.

Meta is continuously adding new privacy and user-control features to WhatsApp. Currently, WhatsApp can be used with two different numbers on the same phone, using the same app. Additionally, an app lock feature has been added, allowing you to protect your chats using fingerprint, face recognition, or a passcode.

Meta has not yet made any official announcement regarding this feature. It is currently in beta testing, and the company is evaluating its stability. If testing is successful, it may be rolled out to all Android and iPhone users in future updates.
