The Honor Robot Phone made its debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), which took place in March. During the event, the company revealed that the upcoming smartphone would be released sometime during the current year. Recently, Honor revealed when the Honor Robot Phone would launch. Unlike previous smartphones, it features a unique design and is equipped with a robotic gimbal camera module. In addition, the camera operates similarly to a handheld gimbal camera and can pan independently to track subjects in videos.
According to the company's CEO, Li Jian, the Honor Robot Phone will launch within the Q3 timeframe, specifically between July and September. Li Jian wrote in a Weibo post that they will "infuse a hundred years of accumulated imaging science into this small mobile device, helping Chinese cinema reach the heights of art with Chinese intelligent manufacturing, and together we will make our world shine."
The brand has also confirmed its partnership with ARRI for this handset. Due to launch between July and September, the Honor Robot Phone is expected to compete directly with Apple's upcoming foldable phones, Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8, and Google's Pixel 11 series, which are expected to hit the market around the same time.
The company first teased the Honor Robot Phone during the launch of the Honor Magic 8 series last year, and it was showcased at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. The handset features a robotic gimbal camera that can rotate autonomously to track people while recording video.
The Honor Robot Phone is advertised as offering the industry's best stabilization performance on a smartphone. It features a three-axis mechanical gimbal stabilization system with an AI-powered stabilization engine to respond to real-time movement. It offers intelligent AI subject tracking that can recognize people, anticipate their movements, and respond instantly. It also comes with a 'Spinshot' mode that lets users capture videos in 90-degree or 180-degree modes using one-handed control.
