An important verdict has been issued by a court regarding the allegations of rape against Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi who plays for PSG. The verdict has been upheld after the appeal of the footballer has been dismissed by the court. The case will be put up for trial soon.

In February 2023, a complaint has been filed against Hakimi by a 24-year-old woman who claims that in January 2023 she was invited by the Moroccan to meet him via Instagram and later was taken in a cab by him to his residence where she was sexually assaulted and then raped. After the investigation of the incident, prosecutors have sought to prosecute the footballer for 2025. The court approved this move, prompting Hakimi to file an appeal, which has now been dismissed.

After the court's decision, Hakimi shared a lengthy message on the social media platform X. Denying the allegations, he claimed he was being targeted because of his fame. Hakimi wrote, "Justice looked me in the eye and told me that if I weren't famous, this case would never have existed. I chose to remain silent for years. I felt that maintaining dignity, exercising patience, and trusting the justice system would lead to the right outcome."

He added, "Today, a story is being told that is not mine." "My family, my life, and-above all-the truth are paying the price for this. At times, I feel like I have become an easy target. I have been waiting for this trial since day one, and now I will finally have the opportunity to present my side of the story."

Hakimi plays for Morocco in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The court ruling is a major blow to his career at this point. The case has not reached its conclusion since the court has not made any judgment yet. It will be up to the judges to decide after they listen to the claims of both sides during the trial.

Hakimi is regarded as one of the top right-backs in the world and has contributed to some recent success of Morocco. However, the trial has now placed his name once again under scrutiny. Everyone is eagerly waiting for the next court hearing in which Hakimi will be able to give his explanation in front of the court.
