There is a warning from RBI regarding AI-created deepfake videos. They have warned people about fake videos related to financial advice given by its top management on social media. As per the statement released on Tuesday, RBI said that it has come to their notice that fake videos of Governor Shaktikanta Das are being circulated on social media. In the video, Shaktikanta is claiming to launch or endorse certain investment schemes on behalf of RBI.
The RBI statement said, "These videos are advising people to invest their money in such schemes through the use of technical tools." RBI clarified through the statement that its officials are not involved in or support any such activity and these videos are fake.
Notably, RBI does not give any such financial investment advice. Thus, RBI has warned people to not get involved in those and become a victim of such fake videos shared on social media. Earlier this year, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) issued a similar advisory cautioning investors against falling prey to fake or AI-generated videos of its MD and CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan recommending stocks.
Examples of these ads are endless, in which big businessmen were shown to advise buying stocks and giving other business advice on social media. All such videos were fake and created with the help of artificial intelligence.
