The heat and heatwave occurred on the first day of Nautapa in Rajasthan. On Monday, several places including Jaipur, Kota, Sriganganagar, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer registered a temperature of more than 44 degrees centigrade. It is estimated that the heatwave conditions would persist for the next 24 hours; however, there is an expected change in weather in the northeast region from late evening of May 27. According to meteorologists, the maximum temperature is likely to remain 45-46 degrees centigrade in western Rajasthan over the next 2 days. However, temperatures in northeastern districts are expected to drop by 2 to 4 degrees due to the western disturbance.

According to the Meteorological Center, Jaipur, a western disturbance may activate, bringing dust storms, light rain, and isolated hailstorms to parts of the state starting May 28th. The department has issued a yellow alert for 16 districts, while 19 districts are under orange and yellow heatwave alerts on Tuesday.

Kota was the hottest city in the state in the last 24 hours, recording a maximum temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius. Chittorgarh and Sriganganagar also recorded temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius, Pilani 44.5 degrees Celsius, Alwar 44.4 degrees Celsius, Jaisalmer 44.3 degrees Celsius, and Bikaner 44.2 degrees Celsius. Severe heatwave conditions prevailed during the day in Jaisalmer, Phalodi, and the Bikaner region.

The capital, Jaipur, also set new heat records, with a maximum temperature of 43.6 degrees Celsius, higher than Barmer and Jodhpur. People had to face a hot night as the minimum temperature was recorded at 30.4 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has predicted that thunderstorms and light rain may start in Jaipur and surrounding areas from May 28.

Heat waves are now prevailing at night as well as during the day. During the last 24 hours, the effect of hot nights continued in Hanumangarh and Alwar, where the minimum temperature was recorded between 33 and 34 degrees Celsius. Hot winds continued to blow till late night in many districts including Kota, Chittorgarh, Bikaner, Churu and Jhunjhunu.
