A flight by IndiGo heading to Jharkhand's capital, Ranchi, was forced to make an emergency landing on Monday. Authorities confirmed that the flight was grounded due to a bird strike, and all 175 passengers are safe on board.
According to news agency PTI, the plane was damaged due to a vulture attack at an altitude of about 4,000 feet.
RR Maurya, director of Ranchi's Birsa Munda Airport, told news agency PTI, "An IndiGo plane collided with a bird near Ranchi. The incident took place about 10 to 12 nautical miles from here, at an altitude of about 3,000 to 4,000 feet. The IndiGo plane was coming to Ranchi from Patna, and the pilot had to make an emergency landing here."
As soon as the information about the bird hit was received, the airport authority team reached the spot. The technical team is examining the plane. When a bird collides with a plane in the sky, it is called 'bird hit'.
Earlier on Sunday, an IndiGo flight going to Delhi had to face a lot of trouble due to bad weather in Delhi. Flight number 6E 6313, coming from Raipur to Delhi, landed safely at Delhi airport on Sunday after circling in the air for some time due to a dust storm.
