The company has added to its product line the Terra M, an ultra-rugged smart feature phone for frontline workers, government agencies, defense forces, and enterprise teams. Terra M is part of the HMD Secure division at HMD, with a focus on secure and robust mobility solutions. It follows the launch of the European-built HMD Ivalo XE and is part of an ever-growing portfolio of secure and long-lasting devices from HMD Secure. Pricing is currently unknown, but organizations should contact the HMD Secure sales team.
The company has now confirmed in a press release that Terra M is designed for use in harsh environments and will become available first quarter 2026 via HMD Secure, plus select partners. Pricing and other details, including location-specific availability, will be shared later and may vary by region.
The HMD Terra M features military-grade durability, including MIL-STD-810H certification and IP68+IP69K ratings, making it capable of withstanding drops up to 1.8 meters. It features a 2.8-inch glove-friendly touchscreen, programmable push-to-talk and emergency keys, and a high-output loudspeaker for loud work sites. The device supports 4G, VoLTE, VoWi-Fi, hotspot mode, NFC, dual SIM, and eSIM connectivity.
The phone runs on Qualcomm's Dragonwing QCM2290 chipset and is based on a custom enterprise-ready operating system. It comes with mobile device management (MDM) support, enabling secure deployment at scale. It comes with pre-loaded apps like Zello, Threema, OsmAnd, Lyfo, and SOTI MobiControl to suit customer needs. HMD has promised quarterly security updates for five years. It has a 2,510mAh battery, which is claimed to deliver 10 days of standby time.
HMD also stated that it is offering mission-ready accessories, including a stackable charging dock that can charge up to 10 devices with a single cable and a rugged belt clip holster. These accessories are designed for shift-based work and rapid deployment in the field. The company is expected to reveal full specifications in January 2026.
