A new gold smuggling case has emerged at the Jaipur International Airport. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) team recovered 772 grams of gold paste valued at Rs 70 lakh from the private portion of a passenger on Thursday. Ajay Fagodia, who was the prime conspirator of this smuggling, has also been detained. Officials hope that a few important disclosures related to the smuggling network may be made during questioning.

According to the information, DRI had already received input that a passenger coming from an Air Arabia flight could smuggle gold. As soon as this flight reached Jaipur from Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, the agency team became alert. As soon as the deboarding started, the officials started looking for the suspicious passenger.

The passenger was stopped based on suspicion and a customs check was conducted, but nothing was found on him. After this, after obtaining permission from the court, the passenger was X-rayed, in which gold paste hidden in his private part was seen. After this, when the accused passenger was interrogated, he revealed the name of the mastermind of smuggling, Ajay Fagodia. The DRI team took immediate action and arrested Ajay as well. Ajay used to smuggle the youth of the Sikar and Nagaur districts of Rajasthan as carriers. He used to give them 10 to 20 thousand rupees per trip.

DRI officials say that Ajay Fagodia was active in gold smuggling for a long time. He was on the radar of intelligence agencies for this. Now the agency is also looking for other people associated with his network. Officials hope that much more important information can be revealed during interrogation.
