According to a statement made by the Election Commission on Wednesday, a total of more than 6.8 million cyber attacks originating from India and other nations were launched against the key election-related systems of the Commission during the vote counting process in five assembly constituencies on May 4.

As per the Commission, all such cyber-attacks could be effectively prevented due to the cybersecurity protocols adopted by ECINET. The Commission stated that the IT-based system ECINET played a vital role in improving the election process through enhanced real-time monitoring and transparency.

Since its official launch in January, the ECINET app has seen significant growth in usage, with over 100 million downloads to date. The beta version of ECINET was used in the Bihar elections held in November 2025.

On polling days, April 9, 23, and 29, ECINET recorded over 983 million hits, and on counting day, an average of 30 million hits per minute were recorded.
