In Bihar, State Transport Commissioner Arif Ahsan has given a deadline of January 31st to sort out pending cases related to driving licenses and vehicle registrations. During a high-level meeting, State Transport Commissioner Arif Ahsan gave a tough message to the District Transport Officers regarding the pending cases related to driving licenses and vehicle registrations.
He directed all the DTOs to make sure that the pendency of the DL and RC cases is zero by the end of the month. He particularly directed the DTOs to remove the cases that are above six months old.
It was found that many cases are pending at the dealer level or at the agency level. The Commissioner has directed that if the agencies fail to process the backlog, their login IDs will be cancelled immediately. Strict instructions were also given to install reflective tape, mirrors, and signboards on highways, dangerous curves, and blind spots to prevent accidents. These works have been asked to be completed by January 31st.
Commissioner Ahsan, reiterating the state government's zero-tolerance policy, said that helmet and seatbelt checking will now be a daily campaign. He said that helmets and seatbelts are not just rules, but life-saving devices. Emphasis was also placed on the speedy disposal of hit-and-run claims and permit-related cases.
