Major defence contractor Saab of Sweden announced on Monday that it will begin producing the renowned Carl-Gustaf M-4 weapon systems at its plant in Haryana by the end of the following year. For this significant project, the company has received approval for 100% of its foreign direct investment (FDI).
In October of last year, the government gave the Carl-Gustaf M4 manufacturing project approval. Saab achieved this, making it the first foreign defence company in India to receive 100% approval for FDI.
Saab on Monday organized the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of the production plant in Jhajjar. With this, construction has started on a total campus of 3.6 acres. It is Saab's first manufacturing plant for the Carl-Gustaf M4 outside Sweden.
Saab established a new company Saab FFVO India Private Limited after getting approval for 100 percent foreign direct investment. The company owns the new manufacturing plant and will produce the Carl-Gustaf M4 weapon.
