E-commerce giant Amazon is planning to lay off a significant number of employees to reduce its expenses. As per the Amar Ujala sources, the company may lay off 30,000 corporate employees. These layoffs could begin as early as Tuesday.
This represents approximately 10% of Amazon's approximately 350,000 corporate employees. The company had hired a large number of people during the COVID-19 pandemic and is now looking to cut costs due to reduced demand. Previously, the company laid off 27,000 employees at the end of 2022.
A company spokesperson declined to comment on the matter. Amazon has a total of 15.5 lakh employees, so this layoff is a small portion of the total employees.
