Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma scored no runs when batting at No. 3 for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 21st match of IPL 2026 against Rajasthan Royals. This makes Abhishek Sharma an Indian who got the maximum number of ducks in a single calendar year in T20 cricket. Abhishek Sharma batted in 18 T20 matches in the year 2026 and scored 0 in seven of his T20 matches.

The other two Indians holding the second position in getting the maximum number of ducks in a single calendar year in T20 cricket are Rohit Sharma and Sanju Samson. Both Rohit Sharma and Sanju Samson got out in their six T20 matches in 2018 and 2024 respectively. Gurkeerat Singh Mann was dismissed for a duck five times in 19 innings in 2013.

Abhishek Sharma lost his wicket to Jofra Archer on the very first ball of Monday's match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Abhishek became the second Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman to be dismissed on the first ball of an IPL match. Before him, Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed on the first ball of an IPL match against Chennai Super Kings in 2018.

After winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals invited Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat. Both teams came out with two changes each. While Rajasthan Royals have won four consecutive matches, Sunrisers Hyderabad have won only one out of four.

Abhishek Sharma's performance in the T20 World Cup has also been disappointing. In the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, the Indian opener was dismissed three times without scoring. So far, Abhishek has been dismissed six times without scoring in 46 T20 International matches. He has done so five times in the IPL. However, he is the world's fastest batsman to score runs in T20 Internationals.
