Don't rinse immediately.
After brushing, many of us instinctively spit right away. Instead, try to keep the toothpaste in your mouth for a little longer. The fluoride in toothpaste strengthens your enamel and helps prevent cavities. Not rinsing immediately with water gives the fluoride more time to work.
Use fluoride-containing pastes.
Both the World Health Organization and the Indian Dental Association recommend using a toothpaste with a safe level of fluoride. While some prefer fluoride-free options, fluoride naturally exists in water, soil, and food, and it helps protect against cavities. Use only a pea-sized amount of toothpaste for cleaning.
Avoid brushing right after eating acidic foods.
When you consume tea, juice, or other acidic drinks in the morning, wait at least thirty minutes before brushing. Acid softens enamel, and brushing immediately can make it weaker. Instead, rinse your mouth with water.
Proper brushing angle.
Always move the brush in an up-and-down motion at a 45-degree angle. This helps reach the roots where bacteria and food particles tend to stay. At this angle, plaque removal is more effective.
