TMC worker killed in bomb blast in Birbhum: 2 injured

A TMC worker has died and two people have been injured in a bomb blast in West Bengal's Birbhum district. The incident took place on Saturday late at night at 10 pm. The name of the deceased is Newton Sheikh who is the brother of TMC leader Lalu Sheikh. Lalu Sheikh has also been injured in the accident and is undergoing treatment. His condition is said to be serious.
According to police sources, it is not yet clear what caused the bomb blast. Further investigation is on in the matter.
Firazul Islam, the nephew of the deceased Newton Shaikh, said that my uncle was murdered in a spirit of political vendetta. The bomb-throwers were earlier in the BJP and have now joined the Congress. He said that we have lodged a complaint at the police station against the person who threw the bomb.
On Saturday itself, a bomb was recovered in Golabari Bazar of the Canning area near Birbhum. The local people saw the bomb lying in the market, after which the police were informed. The police came and recovered the bomb. Later, the police also found a pistol and six cartridges on the spot. Many people have been arrested in this case. they are being interrogated.
A year ago in March 2022 also TMC leader Bhadu Sheikh was murdered by throwing a bomb. A video of this also came to the fore, in which some miscreants came near Bhadu sitting in the car and started attacking with bombs continuously. After Bhadu's murder, on March 21, eight charred bodies were found after a mob set ablaze some houses using petrol bombs in Bagtui village of Rampurhat.
