Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], April 24: Desun Hospital, in collaboration with the Election Commission of India, hosted an initiative titled “Care Beyond Hospitals: Empowering Every Voter with Accessibility” at the Press Club Kolkata. The initiative highlights the importance of collaboration between healthcare and public institutions to promote accessibility, dignity, and equal participation in the democratic process.
The initiative, taken under the Election Commission’s Systematic Voter Education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP) focused on encouraging inclusive electoral participation, especially for elderly voters and individuals with mobility challenges. To support this effort, wheelchairs were handed over to assist voters at polling stations, helping make the voting process more accessible.
The event was attended by Dr. Saumitra Bharadwaj, Group Director, Desun Hospital, Dr. Sujoy Ranjan Deb, Senior Medical Director, Desun Hospital, along with Election Commission representatives, Mr Biswajit Dasgupta, Nodal Officer (SVEEP), 164 – Beliaghata Assembly Constituency; Shreya Som, Nodal Officer (SVEEP), 166 – Shyampukur Assembly Constituency.
