Sidhu's leave likely: Preparations to accept resignation from the post of Punjab Congress chief
Sidhu's leave likely: Preparations to accept resignation from the post of Punjab Congress chief; CM Channi along with MPs Bittu and Nagra leave for Delhi to meet Sonia Navjot Singh Sidhu may be relinquished from the post of Punjab Congress President. He had resigned a week ago, which can be accepted by the Congress high command. For this, CM Charanjit Channi has been called to Delhi. MPs Ravneet Bittu and Kuljeet Nagra have also been called along with him.
After accepting Sidhu's resignation, either Bittu or Nagra can be made the President of Punjab Congress. According to Congress sources, angry with Sidhu's stubborn attitude, the Congress high command can take this decision. All three may meet Sonia Gandhi. However, official confirmation will be made only after this meeting. Sidhu was adamant on the demand for removal of DGP and AG but did not agree to it. CM Channi had said that he will decide after the panel of three officers comes from UPSC.
At the same time, the case of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was taken from the Advocate General and handed over to the Special Public Prosecutor. Despite this, Sidhu's displeasure did not end there. They are running separately from the organization and the government. The Congress high command, fulfilling Sidhu's insistence, removed Sunil Jakhar and made Sidhu the Punjab Congress chief. On his insistence, Captain Amarinder Singh was removed from the CM's chair. After this, he got angry with the new CM Channi and sat at home. It is believed that the high command has also become angry about this, after which preparations are being made to leave Sidhu. Kuljit Nagra was set to be included in the Channi cabinet. His name was dropped at the last moment.
Nagra is currently the working head of Punjab Congress. It is possible that after removing Sidhu, Nagra may be made the head. At the same time, Ravneet Bittu, Congress MP from Ludhiana, is also a big name in the politics of Punjab. He is the grandson of former Chief Minister Beant Singh, who was martyred in the era of terrorism in Punjab. Charanjit Channi was to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday evening. For this, he had left Mohali by helicopter. After this suddenly he landed in Mohali. After this, MP Ravneet Bittu and Working President Kuljit Nagra sat with him from the chartered flight and he has left for Delhi.
It is believed that the message of the Congress high command had come for the CM that he should also bring Bittu and Nagra along. Navjot Sidhu took over as the new President of Punjab Congress on 22 July. After this, even after a lapse of about two and a half months, he could not form the organization. All state and district level units are dissolved in Punjab from January 2020. In such a situation, instead of forming an organization, Sidhu is taking on the government.
Assembly elections are expected to be announced in Punjab after 3 months. In such a situation, without the organization, the difficulty of Congress can increase. The same thing is bothering the high command as well. Apart from this, Sidhu is also demanding to declare himself as the CM face in the next election.
