For the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the happiness that everyone was waiting for finally arrived in IPL 2026. KKR finally got their first victory in seven games despite losing their first six matches consecutively. Varun Chakravarthy, who was the hero in the biggest win against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), turned the tide by showing brilliant bowling skills. What happened after the match and what Varun Chakravarthy said in the dressing room would have moved anyone to tears.

After the match, Varun made a shocking revelation. He said that everyone in the dressing room was crying after the win. Varun said, "There were a lot of tears in the dressing room today." We haven't seen so much emotion even when we won the IPL in 2024. This victory is very big and special for us.

Varun's performance is even more special because he is battling a serious injury. He revealed that he fractured a finger on one hand just before the start of the tournament, and then broke another finger in a different match. Varun said, "I have two fractures in my left hand. I can't field and the pain is immense, but I'm managing somehow."

At one point in the match, Rajasthan's score was 79 runs without loss in 8 overs. It seemed that the match was going to KKR. Then Varun came on in the 9th over and took his 200th T20 wicket by dismissing Vaibhav Suryavanshi in just 4 balls. He then dismissed Dhruv Jurel and captain Riyan Parag, finishing with figures of 3/14 in 4 overs. This was the spell that turned the tables.

Despite his impressive bowling, he said, "Just because I took three wickets today doesn't mean I should make grand claims. It's part of the game. If the pitch is flat in the next match, every spinner will be thrashed. We are effective only when the pitch is slow. I am very strict with myself and only work on my shortcomings." Varun credited the win to coach Abhishek Nair, who didn't abandon the team during difficult times. He expressed hope that this small start will get KKR back on track.
