India's top shuttler PV Sindhu has entered the second round of the women's singles category of the Singapore Open BWF 750 badminton tournament with a brilliant win, while Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth were eliminated in the first round. Sindhu defeated world number 21 Line Kjaersfeldt 21-12, 22-20 in consecutive games. Sindhu took a 4-3 lead and then extended it to win the first game 21-12.

Towards the end of the second game, things got exciting. By forcing errors from Sindhu, the Danish player took a 19–16 lead. Olympic medallist Sindhu twice fought back to win the game and the match 22–20 after saving four game points.

In a three-game match, world No. 1 and reigning Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen defeated Lakshya Sen 13-21, 21-16, 13-21. Previously, Srikanth was eliminated following a 14-21, 3-11 loss to Kodai Naraoka of Japan. A second-game injury forced Srikanth to retire. It is currently unknown how serious Srikanth's injury is.
