The Arunachal Pradesh government terminated the services of 256 teachers, clerks, and support staff in the Education Department on charges of presenting fake appointment letters to the concerned authorities without completing the formalities. State Education Commissioner Amjad Tak has issued separate orders for the termination of service of employees posted in different districts.

Officials said a committee was formed to find out the irregularities. Investigation revealed that the Directorate of Elementary Education had not issued such appointment letters. Amjad Tak said that all the illegal appointments were made by various officials and an investigation is ongoing. So far, the Director of Secondary Education of Longding district has been suspended for his involvement in irregularities.

The orders unearthing the irregularities revealed that a large number of Primary Teachers (PRTs), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), Upper and Lower Division Clerks (UDCs and LDCs) and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) had submitted appointment orders against them. Had secured his position. Later it was found out that it was a fraud.

As per the orders, the services of 101 persons have been terminated in the Siang district. After this, the services of 72 people in Changlang, 26 in Anjaw, 18 in East Siang, 10 in Longding, eight in Upper Subansiri, six in Kurung Kumey, and four each in Lohit and Lower were terminated. Also included are three in the Siang State Capital Region, two in Tirap, one in West Siang, and one employee working under the Deputy Director of Secondary Education in the Upper Siang district.

Administrative action will be initiated against all those involved in the case. Chief Minister Pema Khandu has already ordered to hand over the case to the Special Investigation Team of the state police. The Education Department has also instructed the concerned officers to register a case regarding fraud and fake appointment orders.
