The heat wave has been heating up in Rajasthan. Twelve cities witnessed temperatures of 40°C on Monday in Rajasthan. The highest was in Kota with 42°C and Barmer and Jaisalmer saw high temperature.
The heat wave continues to cause problems for Jaipur and Phalodi during both daytime and nighttime. Temperatures were above 26°C at night time. A yellow alert has been issued by the Jaipur Meteorological Centre that forecasts sunny days with heat wave to come.
The harsh heat wave is affecting tourism in Rajasthan. Tourist numbers have dropped for Udaipur and Ajmer. Hospitals in Kota have made provisions for patients suffering from heat waves and have made special beds for them.
After the scorching heat of the day, even the nights are not providing relief in Phalodi and Barmer. The minimum temperature here remains between 27 and 29 degrees. Phalodi recorded a maximum of 28.4 degrees, Barmer 27.5 degrees, and Jaisalmer 26 degrees.
The situation is also dire in the capital, Jaipur. The maximum temperature here was 40 degrees and the minimum was 27 degrees, which is about 3 degrees above normal. In Jodhpur, the temperature has also remained consistently above 40 degrees, with a maximum temperature of 40.7 degrees recorded on Monday.
