Canadian Michelle Lee defeated Indian badminton star PV Sindhu in the first round of the Arctic Open 2024. Malvika Bansodhas made it to the pre-quarterfinals by demonstrating an impressive play. In the 37-minute women's singles match of the BWF Super 500 badminton tournament on Tuesday, Sindhu was defeated by Michelle Lee of Canada 16-21, 10-21.

PV Sindhu's first competition after the Olympics in Paris in 2024 was this one. In the opening game, Sindhu got off to a quick lead. She had to work very hard after that to get into the rhythm, though. Michelle won the opening game 21-16 at the same moment by making clutch shots that scored points for her team. 

In another Women's singles encounter, Malvika Bansod advanced to the Round of 16, defeating Sung Shuo Yun of Chinese Taipei in a close match 21-19, 24-22. Malvika will face Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon in the pre-quarters. Apart from this Aakarshi Kashyap defeated Germany's Yvonne Lee 21-19 21-14 in straight games in an encounter that lasted 45 minutes to make it into the second round.

Kiran George defeated France's Lucas Claerbout 21-16, 13-21, 21-19 in the qualifier match of men's singles to enter the main draw of men's single.
