Meta is a huge social media platform, planning to work on a new strategy to further strengthen its hold in India. The company is hiring contractors in the US whose job is to create AI chatbots in the Hindi language, which can connect users with cultural and regional touch on platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.
Staffing agencies like Crystal Equation and Aquent Talent have been engaged for hiring for these posts. Applicants should have a strong command of Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese, or Indonesian. Also, candidates must have at least six years of experience in storytelling, character desig,n and AI content workflow.
Meta is hiring contractors for AI chatbots. According to reports, the company will pay these contractors on an hourly basis, which can be up to a maximum of $55 per hour (about ₹4,850 in Indian rupees).
Meta has also done different experiments with AI chatbots before. The company once introduced celebrity alter-ego bots, voiced by big stars. However, this project was not very successful. Despite this, it showed the company the direction to launch platforms like AI Studio, which was introduced in 2024 and through which any user can create their own chatbots.
This time Meta's investment shows that India is not just a large user base but also a testbed for culture-sensitive AI technology. The chatbots to be developed by these contractors will not be just a technology but will be the digital voice of Meta in local languages. If this strategy is successful, it can change the face of AI-based chatbots in many markets including South Asia.
