A statement by the Government regarding the availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG was issued by the government on Thursday. There has been no increase in the price of fuels at public-sector oil company pumps. Adequate quantities of petrol and diesel exist across all pumps in the country.
A spokesman for the Petroleum Division, while briefing the press in his regular briefings, said that efforts should be made by the people to conserve energy. He advised the people to refrain from hoarding any of the products like petrol, diesel, and LPG. The official also urged people to avoid rumors and rely on official sources for accurate information.
The government assured that it is making every effort to ensure its availability. Despite the geopolitical situation, the government has ensured 100% supply of domestic LPG, domestic PNG, and CNG. Nearly 1.90 lakh five-kilogram FTL cylinders were sold in the last three days. Nearly 67,600 five-kilogram FTL cylinders were sold on Wednesday. Against a booking of approximately 1.40 crore LPG cylinders in the last three days, 1.39 crore cylinders were supplied.
Since March, approximately 7.03 lakh PNG connections have been gasified. Additionally, infrastructure for 2.72 lakh connections has been created, bringing the total number of PNG connections to 9.75 lakh. Nearly 7.49 lakh customers have registered for new connections. As of May 13, more than 57,200 PNG consumers have surrendered their LPG connections through the MyPNGD.in website.
Public sector oil marketing companies have strengthened their surprise inspections. As of Wednesday, 401 LPG distributors have been fined. Additionally, 76 LPG distributors have been suspended. A provision of 1,120 metric tons per day from the LPG pool has been made for companies in the pharmaceutical, chemical, and paint sectors. This ensures that these vital industries continue to receive the necessary fuel.
Since May 1, 2026, refineries in Mumbai, Kochi, Vizag, Chennai, Mathura, and Gujarat have sold critical chemical products. This includes over 6,700 metric tons of C3-C4 molecules, including propylene and butylene. Additionally, over 2,800 metric tons of butyl acrylate have also been sold. These products have been sold to the chemical, pharmaceutical, and paint industries. This reflects the government's efforts to meet the needs of the industrial sectors.
