The Indian electric car market has grown significantly in the last few years. However, initially, electric cars were quite expensive, but with the help of Battery as a Service (BaaS), these cars have become affordable now. Today, electric cars cost almost equal to that of standard petrol cars. Previously, the MG Comet EV was the least-priced electric car available in India, but today we have a new one, even a lower-priced electric vehicle model.
While the starting price of the BaaS MG Comet is ₹4.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the 2026 Tata Tiago EV Facelift costs ₹4.69 lakh (ex-showroom). Further, MG Comet has battery rental at ₹3.1 per km, whereas Tata charges ₹2.6 per km for the battery service.
In terms of warranty, MG Comet comes with an 8-year/120,000 km warranty, but the 2026 Tata Tiago EV Facelift provides lifetime battery warranty.
The company has made some changes to the design of its electric hatchback in India. It features new headlights with new eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs. The electric version of the hatchback features a closed, body-colored front grille, while the ICE version features a larger black front grille.
Newly added 15-inch alloy wheels are visible on the sides of the car. The rear features a new taillight setup, consisting of three vertical slats on each side and a horizontal line running through them. The taillight appears to be a connected unit, with the brand's logo placed in the center.
The 2026 Tata Tiago EV Facelift also receives several changes to its interior. The new car features two free-floating screens, one for the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system. The previous model of this electric hatchback featured an LCD setup for the instrument cluster.
The cabin features a new front center armrest, i-high beam alert, automatic dimist, and dual-tone fabric upholstery in black and brown. It also features a new central console with a gloss black finish and two wireless charging pads. The car also features redesigned AC vents, rear AC vents for rear passengers, and a new two-spoke steering wheel.
The Tata Tiago EV offers the same battery pack options as the previous model. The medium-range variant comes with a 19.2kWh battery pack, while the long-range variant features a 24kWh battery pack. The new 2026 Tiago EV is claimed to have a range of up to 285 km on a full charge. The company claims a real-world range of up to 215 km on a single full charge.
